ENERGY & TRANSPORT
In 2019 we saved 21 tonnes of CO2 through diverting 93% of non food waste away from landfill and recycling 20% of our waste. We've ambitious plans for the future too, and below are some of the initiatives we're working towards.
OUR EMISSIONS IMPACT
We have partnered with Veolia for over 3 years, to work on sustainable and low-impact solutions on waste. They help us to measure and reduce our emissions impact, who have been working with us on sustainable and low-impact solutions on waste and help us to measure and reduce our emissions impact.
We divert 93% of our non food waste from landfill and recycle 20% of our waste, meaning that from January 2019 to September 2019 we saved over 21 tonnes of CO2 (equivalent of planting 225 trees and removing 24 cars off the road for a year).
In our offices, we have been installing screens and video conference facilities to help reduce on the need to travel by car and are moving to a paperless system to cut down on paper. We have installed boiling water taps to cut down on using kettles and auto shut-off taps to save water. By March 2020, we will introduce a new planning system to reduce the number or routes our transport system needs. We have also introduced an electronic defect system which will greatly reduce our paper usage each year.
We incentivise our teams for safe driving abilities recording daily feedback on their performance direct to them using a third party integrator. We have switched our fuel supply to Shell FuelSave Diesel to help maintain cleaner engines. We use a sophisticated telematics system to monitor and improve driving efficiency every minute of the day. We use a sophisticated telematics system to monitor and improve driving efficiency every minute of the day and will achieve a 90% efficient team by the end of 2019.
