The Duke of Edinburgh Team at Bearwood College ran their first fundraising activity of the year to help raise much needed funds to support Christopher’s Smile which aims to raise money for the Institute of Cancer Research paediatric drug development team to help save the lives of children diagnosed with cancer who still have a low rate of survival. Christopher was the only child of Karen and Kevin Capel and died 9 days before his 6th birthday after a 21 month battle with a brain tumour. The aim of Christopher’s Smile is to help to bring about a change in the current treatments so children not only survive the awful disease but live to have a good quality of life.
Donuts were sold on the occasion of the cross country event and were a motivation for the pupils to finish the course to earn their donuts! The team had fun setting up the event and the donuts were all sold and positively received!
Thank you to Krispy Kreme and hopefully there will be future events held this year at the school to raise more funds.
